The Department of Mathematics and Informatics at Freie Universitaet 
Berlin, Germany invites applications for

two positions as

Research Associate (Wissenschaftliche/r Mitarbeiter/in, BAT IIa)

with the “Mathematics in Life Sciences” research group of Prof Alexander 

The positions are part-time (19.25 hrs/wk) and for a duration of four 
years. Salary will be at BAT IIa level on the German public services pay 
scale. The positions offer the opportunity to work toward a PhD.

Job description:
Research on mathematical problems in systems biology in the research 
group “Mathematics in Life Sciences” of Professor A Bockmayr.
Lecturing assignments in Mathematics and Bioinformatics.

Formal requirements:
University diploma or Master's degree in Mathematics, Informatics, 
Bioinformatics or a related discipline.

Desirable qualifications:
Profound knowledge of discrete mathematics notably in the field of logic 
and optimization.
Good working knowledge of molecular biology.
Motivation to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Experience with software development.
